As part of the Erasmus+ KA2 Project titled “Outdoor Activities for Social Connectedness, Cohesion and Well-Being of Youth“, the blended mobility of young people “Outdoor Safety and Risk Prevention” took place in Münster, Germany. From 25.07.2022 – 29.07.2022, our partner Bürgerhaus Bennohaus hosted a group of young people who were learning about nature, risk prevention, and enjoyed fun activities as well as an active outdoor learning agenda. The participants had the opportunity to get to know each other during the first days of the project as well as their host city Münster. They played various games and engaged in activities designed to help them explore the city in a creative way.
The journey continues!
the outdoor-focused mobility moved indoors because of some bad weather however this did not discourage our participants to give 110% to the day ahead. The youngsters engaged in learning about sport psychology and MuayThai. The emphasis was on the importance of daily training for a healthier and happier life and also the importance of warming up safe execution of sports activities outdoors.
The activities on the agenda included finding body movement exercises that are in harmony with the whole group.Münster is the city of cycling. This is why an experience in this city would only be complete if there was a city cycling tour! Our participants engaged in this traditional outdoor activity, followed by a discussion on the topic of safety in the outdoors and the do’s and dont’s in nature.
Indoor and Outdoor Fun
In the following days, some of the discussions moved to an indoor setting. In these brainstorming and discussion settings, our participants concluded that nature refers to the interaction between the physical surroundings around us and the life within it like atmosphere, climate, natural resources, ecosystem, flora, fauna, and humans. Throughout the conversations, participants were speaking about how to move more safely in nature during outdoor activities and prevent unnecessary risks.
The result of this particular session was an “Outdoor Agenda” which highlights ideas, opinions and thoughts showcased on the brainstorming session which can be useful to any reader out there.
Additionally to the indoor activities, the participants later engaged in some more cultural visits. The team visited the open air museum Mühlenhof which depicted the way of life in the year 1694.
On the final part of the Münster adventure, the youngsters created a small video introduction about the mobility using modern movie apps, a professional setup and also a lot of great energy. After the creation of the intro, the participants learned about rowing and yet again moved to an outside setting. Rowing is the sport of racing boats using oars. It differs from paddling sports in that rowing oars are attached to the boat using oarlocks, while paddles are not connected to the boat. Rowing is divided into two disciplines: sculling and sweep rowing.´
Time to say Bye!
The fun in Münster concluded with the presenting of certificates to all the youngsters who were there. It was surely an amazing time and another big milestone achieved in the OA/SCY project timeline. You can follow our project activities directly on instagram.
